Dr. Isbouts’ previous books include the bestseller “National Geographic’s The Biblical World”, published by National Geographic Society in 2007.
From Moses to Muhammad traces the origins of Judaism, Christianity and Islam while identifying striking parallels with the literary and cultural environment in which these traditions originated, including the Babylonian, Egyptian, Greco-Roman and pre-Islamic civilizations. In the process, Dr. Isbouts highlights a number of narratives and practices that all three traditions have in common.
“From Moses to Muhammad” was published in printed form in early 2010, but the iPad version, published and distributed worldwide by Apple iBooks, has been enlarged to accommodate a large number of full-color images that, in printed form, would have been too expensive to produce.
In addition, the book features seven video segments on key topics in the book, often featuring the author on location in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Turkey. The video segments were produced by Pantheon Studios, a television studio previously responsible for “Operation Valkyrie” (2008) and the CNBC special “Walt: The Man Behind the Myth” starring Dick van Dyke, broadcast last Thursday, February 3.

Engraving specialists Sign Industries engrave a special handrail to be placed at a new viewpoint overlooking picturesque Loch Leven Castle.
Forfar, Angus, Scotland (ePressReleases.org) Feb 3, 2011 - Engraving specialists Sign Industries engrave a special handrail to be placed at a new viewpoint overlooking picturesque Loch Leven Castle.
Sign Industries was contacted by David F. Wilson, a public artist commissioned with a project to create an interesting viewpoint overlooking beautiful Lock Leven and Castle Island.
The viewpoint is part of the Loch Leven Heritage Trail, organized by a local committee called TRACKS. The Loch Leven Heritage Trail is a new pathway to provide public access to Loch Leven, which up until then could not be accessed. The pathway was being created for walkers and cyclists to gain access to this area of outstanding natural beauty
The viewpoint includes a viewfinder heritage interpretation panel, which also acts as a general leaning handrail. David's idea was to create a stainless steel handrail that included intricate detailing of the local flora and fauna, plus examples of the many varying species of wildlife the area attracts. However, sourcing an engraving company to complete the work proved very challenging, as many said they couldn't complete the intricate engraving work David's art piece required. It was only when David came across Sign Industries, one of the UK's leading engraving specialists that he got the response he was after.
The viewpoint overlooks Castle Island, home of Loch Leven Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was incarcerated. Although the castle remains are impressive and well preserved, what you see today is perhaps only half of the castle's original size. But there's no denying the view of the island from the viewpoint is stunning.
The handrail designed and created by David is incredibly functional and will certainly stand the test of time given it is a 10mm thick stainless steel pipe. However, what David has also managed to achieve, is to produce a functional item that is also clearly a beautiful piece of artwork that tells a story of the area and its inhabitants.
