Fun For All At The Forman & Field Open Day

Last Saturday 2 October, Forman & Field held an open day at their east London premises opposite the Olympic Park.

The day was free to attend and was a chance for both existing customers and those curious about the work the company does with artisan British producers to find out more and explore the Fish Island premises the company operates from. The day was also attended by many of the small producers who supply the company's products.

Those who made the trip to Fish Island could take part in many different activities. The Food Theatre was a place where people could listen to talks and see demonstrations from some of the many small producers who make up Forman & Field's family. The Producers' Market gave people the opportunity to give some of those producers' products a try, with free tastings available. Many people left the day with bulging bags full of fresh produce.

Forman & Field's signature product is their London Cure smoked salmon, and this wasn't neglected in the programme of events. Attendees could tour the company's premises and see exactly how their salmon is smoked. There was also a fun demonstration of speed salmon carving, by a Guinness Book of Records record holder.

Forman & Field hold this open day every year. It is part of the British Food Fortnight, which this year ran between 18 September and 3 October. The fortnight brings together many food lovers and producers, with events held throughout London and the rest of the UK.
