Students Find Home Away From Home At Alexanders
Alexanders International School is an independent boarding school for students between 11 and 17 years old. It is situated in East Anglia on the Suffolk Coast.
East Anglia, UK (ePressReleases.org) May 25, 2010 - With exceptional facilities, the school is located in the Bawdsey Manor Estate, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is home to students from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds from more than 70 countries around the world. The students are all boarders and share four residences on campus, separated between boys and girls. Alexanders boarding school UK thrives as an international community to which each student contributes his own language, culture and faith.
The pastoral staff at each residence ensure that the students settle into their new environment as smoothly as possible. For many students, it is the first time that they have travelled outside their own country and this leads to uncertainty and anxiety in some cases. However, most of the faculty have lived overseas and can empathise with the students. They go out of their way to accommodate newcomers and to make the transition an easy one. In addition, the boarding school preparation that the students experience at Alexanders enables them to adjust to any other boarding school in the country. The bedrooms are airy with comfortable bunk-beds, plenty of space for clothes and desks where students can work in the evenings. Each bedroom has a small sink and on each corridor there are bathrooms, showers and toilets. The common room is equipped with a television and board games, and students are encouraged to spend their free time there where they can meet and talk to their peers. There is also a classroom in each house which is set aside for study, as well as a kitchenette where they can prepare snacks during the evenings or weekends.
With an extensive curriculum, the school endeavours to arm the students with all the knowledge and information that they would need for applying to colleges and universities after school. The task of preparing for colleges and universities is a daunting one, and the school employs all of its considerable resources in enabling the students to successfully overcome this obstacle. Since the School is independent, it also offers unbiased advice in the selection of the most appropriate school for each individual studying the Foundation Course. The training and encouragement provided to students at Alexanders stands them in good stead as they prepare for life in a multicultural world.
