ICS Students Serve Soup In Fund-Raiser

Students from the IC School took part in the Salvation Army's Soup Kitchen Challenge, held during late November.

London, UK (ePressReleases.org) Jan 28, 2010 - As part of their own community action modules and the Life Skills classes assignments, the students at the ICS hosted a banquet where delicious soup and fresh bread were sold to both students and members of staff during lunchtime, in return for donations that would help the several community programs maintained by the Salvation Army. Learners of all ages participated and worked hard to make and serve a feast to be remembered. Due to the success of the enterprise the school hopes it can repeat its blockbuster performance this year.
The Soup Kitchen Challenge Day

The Soup Kitchen Challenge Day is an event that has been organised by both the Salvation Army and the New Covent Garden Food Company in the past years. Truly setting a new date in the charity fund-raising calendar, the Soup Kitchen Challenge encourages people to host a soup lunch for their family, friends or work colleagues in return for donations that go towards The Salvation Army. Hosting an event is available for everyone, regardless of culinary abilities, and recipes from the nation's top chefs are frequently posted on The Salvation Army's website. For the students at the ICS, the challenge was a great opportunity to reach out to the community that has been supporting these types of initiatives and supporting both the educational and social well-being of many families for a long time. The Life Skills class is devoted to the continued support of these social and ethical accomplishments.

The International Community School (an IB school London that houses students from over 65 nationalities) is part of the International Baccalaureate schools, a group of institutions who work to provide learners of all ages with an invigorating learning experience. The ICS is one of the best international school London offers and has achieved both a local and international renown due to the results of its teaching methodology.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is a traditional charity organisation with the purpose of helping people in practical and concrete ways that solve pressing problems. The organization does this through their many social service centres and community welfare programmes.

The Salvation Army is a fantastic organisation which embodies all that is best in the human spirit. Any opportunity to support it is an opportunity to be taken if at all possible. At all times, but particularly at Christmas those of us who are fortunate to have food and shelter and more besides have a responsibility to think about people who, for whatever reason, haven't got that physical or material security or the peace of mind that it brings.
